Robinson issues ‘dream’ Man City claim after Bernardo Silva interview reveal

Paul Robinson has claimed Man City midfielder Bernardo Silva is “a manager’s dream”.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one claimed the 28-year-old is “good in every position that he plays”.

Speaking to The Athletic‘s Sam Lee (2 December), Bernardo said his game has changed under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola.

The Portugal international added that he believes his best position is at number eight, despite the fact he has often play as a 10 or out wide for City.

Robinson would rather see the left-footer play in an advance position to maximise his goalscoring ability.

“It is a difficult one with Bernardo,” he told Football Insider.

“He is so so good in every position that he plays. He is a manager’s dream.

“Can you really say he is better in one position? As player’s get older, the tend to want to play deeper. They like to get on the ball and play with the game in front of them.

“Bernardo Silva has the passing and vision to play as an eight or even deeper. He also has a great engine. He covers so much ground in 90 minutes.

“You do not want to play him too deep though because he has the ability to score goals and create around the edge of the box. He can slot those balls down the side of defenders. That is a very difficult skill.

“For me, he is best in a more advanced position but he can do it all.”
