Robinson issues ‘honest’ Newcastle United verdict after Ben Foster offer revealed
Paul Robinson has backed Loris Karius to “put a few demons to bed” if he plays for Newcastle United this season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said Karius, 29, has not mentally recovered from the 2018 Champions League final.
Eddie Howe currently has only one senior goalkeeper fit in Nick Pope following an injury to Karl Darlow in training.

Sources have told Football Insider (9 September) that the Magpies have agreed to sign Loris Karius.
The German shot-stopper is a free agent following the expiration of his contract at Anfield.
It is understood that Ben Foster rejected the offer of a short-term deal from Newcastle.
When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on the club signing Karius, Robinson said: “It is a case of having to sign rather than wanting to sign.
“Darlow is out for a while so they have to sign somebody. It is a short-term fix.
“Karius has a lot to prove in the Premier League. At the time, Liverpool had two decent goalkeepers. I do not think he was a bad keeper.

“What happened in the Champions League final mentally scarred Karius. Let’s be honest, his career has never been the same since.
“If he gets an opportunity to play in the Premier League we will see how mentally strong he is. Hopefully he can put a few demons to bed.”
