Robinson issues 'massive' Reguilon claim after Tottenham Twitter reveal

Paul Robinson has claimed “it’s a massive relief” to see Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon is not seriously injured.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one heaped praise on the 24-year-old who is excelling under the guidance of Antonio Conte.

Reguilon was forced off after 22 minutes of Tottenham’s 3-0 win over Norwich City on Sunday.

Speaking to club media (5 December), Conte allayed fears of a serious injury when he revealed the left-back was suffering from muscle fatigue.

On Sunday, Reguilon told fans via his Twitter that he will be ready to return “in a few days”.

When asked by Football Insider for his reaction to the update, Robinson said: “Yes, it is a massive relief.

“It would have been a big blow if Reguilon was out for a lengthy period.

“He has spoke very highly of the manager since he has come in. He is clearly enjoying playing under him.

“The way that he plays suits Conte’s system. Look at Victor Moses, Conte rejuvenated his career. Reguilon is already a top player and he will only get better.

“The three at the back system is perfect for Reguilon.”

Reguilon’s return to full fitness would be a major boost for Conte after a number of senior players tested positive for Covid-19.

A Spurs source has Football Insider (7 December) that Son Heung-min, Lucas Moura, Ben Davies, Cristian Romero, Bryan Gil and Emerson Royal have also tested positive.
