Robinson issues 'nonsensical' Liverpool verdict after Sky journalist's Jurgen Klopp reveal

Paul Robinson has claimed it would be “nonsensical” for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp to part ways now or at the end of the season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one suggested Liverpool’s poor form can be attributed almost solely to their midfield.

The Reds are ninth in the Premier League and 15 points off first placed Arsenal.

Speaking on talkSPORT (1 November), ex-Tottenham and Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood suggested Klopp and Liverpool would part ways at the end of the season if Champions League football isn’t secured.

According to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenburg (1 November), Klopp has no intention of quitting Anfield.

The 55-year-old is said to have the full backing of the board.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the latest, Robinson said: “Liverpool are in a transition.

“They are clearly not where they want to be but they do not need a major overhaul. They do not have the power and strength that they want in midfield.

“If you sack Jurgen Klopp, what are you looking for? Who is better than him? He is a proven winner.

“It would be nonsensical to not fully back him. You cannot look elsewhere at the first blip.

“Klopp has so many ties to the club. He has just signed a new deal. The job is his as long as he wants it. I do not see the relationship being broken.”
