Robinson issues two-word verdict on Liverpool signing Moises Caicedo in January after source’s reveal

Paul Robinson has claimed there is “no chance” of Liverpool signing Moises Caicedo from Brighton in January.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one suggested it would take “an astronomical” bid for the Seagulls to consider selling the 20-year-old.

Caicedo has been one of the standout players in the Premier League this season.

Sources have told Football Insider (24 September) that Liverpool are keeping close tabs on the centre-midfielder with a view to a transfer next year.

It is understood that the Reds and Chelsea both registered their interest in Caicedo before the summer window shut on 1 September.

He has three years remaining on his contract with Brighton.

When asked by Football Insider if a January deal for Caicedo could be on the cards, Robinson said: “No chance.

“That is not a January deal.

“Brighton are not in a situation where they need to sell players. We saw that with [Marc] Cucurella. They demanded an astronomical price.

“They will want to give the manager time to assess his squad and his players and do what he wants in January.

“The World Cup is only two months away. [Roberto] De Zerbi does not have much time to assess his squad. I cannot see there being any major outgoings.

“They might bring in players that the manager wants but I cannot see a player like Caicedo leaving.”
