Robinson makes Leeds claim as he suggests real reason Tottenham ended Traore pursuit
Tottenham refused to meet Wolves’ £50million valuation for Adama Traore as the winger was not seen as a guaranteed starter by the club.
That is the view of former White Hart Lane number one Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about his former club’s late-window move for the 25-year-old.
The Athletic‘s David Ornstein revealed on August 31st that Spurs had a £30million bid for Traore rejected by Wolves on Monday.

It is said that Spurs did not return with another offer on deadline day after learning the Midlands club wanted £50million for their speed machine.
Traore has two years remaining on his contract at Molineux.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for possible reasons why Spurs were unwilling to meet the Wanderers’ demands, Robinson said:
“I think £50million is a lot of money.
“There were a lot of clubs interested in him this summer. There was talk, from what I heard, of Leeds as well.
“At the end of a day if Daniel [Levy] feels like a player is overpriced then he will not do a deal. He certainly will not overpay for a squad player.

“Yes, Traore would have been an excellent addition to the squad but does he start when everybody is fit? I’m not sure.
“I think they weighed up the £50million price against what they’ve got already and decided it was not a deal for them.”
