Robinson shares 'huge' Tottenham verdict after Vlahovic update via Gold

Dusan Vlahovic would be a “superb” signing for Tottenham this summer but he is not capable of replacing Harry Kane, according to Paul Robinson.

The former White Hart Lane number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 21-year-old is “not in the same bracket” as Kane and signing him as a direct replacement would be a “huge risk”.

Kane has skipped Spurs training this week to try and push through a move to Man City, who have already had a £100million rejected for the England captain.

According to Alasdair Gold (August 3rd), Spurs are interested in signing Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic if they can raise sufficient funds.

Robinson suggested Spurs need to sign a “world-class” striker as well as Vlahovic to fill the void potentially left by Kane.

“His record is superb for a player of his age,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“He is still so young so that is a massive plus point but he is not tried and tested in the Premier League and for that reason it is a gamble.

“The little I have seen of him, I have been impressed. But would you compare him to Harry Kane? No, you would not even put him in the same bracket. To replace Harry Kane with that type of striker would be a big risk.

“If you have over £100million coming in for Kane you have to guy and sign someone who is world-class. If they don’t, the team will suffer next season. Spurs have been so reliant on Kane over the last few seasons.

“It would be a huge risk to replace him with someone who is nowhere near his class.”
