Robinson shattered by Romano's Tottenham update on Lamela transfer
Paul Robinson is gutted to see Erik Lamela’s time at Tottenham coming to an end.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one said the 29-year-old “has been a wonderful servant to the club” since his arrival from AS Roma in 2013.
According to Fabrizio Romano (25th July), Lamela has had a medical with Sevilla ahead of a permanent move to the La Liga club.
The transfer sees winger Bryan Gil move in the opposite direction, with Spurs paying £21.5million as part of the deal.
Lamela had just one year left on his contract in north London prior to the move.
When asked for his assessment of Lamela’s time at Spurs, Robinson told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs:

“I’m sad to see him go because he has been a wonderful servant for the club.
“He has had his injury problems over the years but when he is fit he always has an impact, whether that be from the start or off the bench. He’s been unfortunate with injuries really.
“People forget how long he has been at the club. He has given his all over the years.
“I am disappointed to see him go but I’m not surprised because he is off an age now where he will want to be playing every week. Hopefully he gets that at Sevilla.”
Lamela contributed 37 goals and 47 assists in 257 appearances for the Lilywhites.
He has also made 25 appearances for his country, Argentina.
