Robinson: Tottenham are working on Pochettino-style signing after big Aarons update

Norwich City defender Max Aarons is a “wanted commodity” this summer and would be a “great” signing for Tottenham, according to Paul Robinson.

The former White Hart Lane number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 21-year-old would be a Mauricio Pochettino-esque signing because of his potential.

Aarons has been one of Norwich’s standout performers in the Championship winning campaign, starting all but one of their 45 league games.

Football Insider revealed on Monday that Spurs have reignited their pursuit of Aarons after making a new right-back one of their main priorities this summer.

Norwich have given the green light for him to leave if their £30million asking price is met.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his thoughts on a potential deal for Aarons, Robinson said: “It looks like they’re stockpiling with Doherty and Aurier there.

“Max Aarons is a wanted commodity. There is going to be teams throughout the league chasing his him this summer.

“If they get him, do they put him straight into the side? He is definitely one for the future but he has also proved again this season that he can play week in, week out.

“He is a great player and is the sort of player the club would have signed under Pochettino.

“It just depends who the next manager is as to which way they go. It would have been an obvious signing under Pochettino but now, with the uncertainty around the manager I just do not know.”

In other news, Tottenham are becoming increasingly interested in a Premier League manager Daniel Levy ‘thinks the world’.
