Rodon and Ramazani respond to Joel Piroe’s fiery message amid Leeds exit rumours

Joel Piroe’s latest update from pre-season training gained the interest of Leeds United teammates Joe Rodon and Largie Ramazani.

The 25-year-old was a key forward at Elland Road last season, finishing the campaign as the Championship’s top goalscorer ahead of Borja Sainz and Josh Brownhill, as Leeds won the league.

Daniel Farke led the Whites back to the Premier League at the second time of asking, pipping the Clarets to the title on goal difference as both clubs ended on 100 points, with Manor Solomon scoring the vital goal.

Despite the success of last season, Football Insider understood that Leeds would not build their attack around Piroe, with question marks emerging around the Dutchman’s ability to make the step up.

The Whites have since added Lukas Nmecha to the squad, and while there has been no movement in terms of the former Swansea City star’s future, several weeks remain for a transfer elsewhere.

Joel Piroe readying for new season at Leeds United

Taking to Instagram (16 July), Piroe wrote: “Season 25/26 starts now,” with a fire emoji alongside several images from Leeds’ pre-season training preparations before facing Man United on Saturday, 19 July.

Ramazani replied: “Top Shotta!” while Rodon, Harry Gray, and Josuha Guilavogui all liked the player’s post on social media.

As well as Nmecha, Farke has added Jaka Bijol, Sebastiaan Bornauw, and Gabriel Gudmundsson to the squad, clearly with a focus on strengthening the back line ahead of next season.

Junior Firpo has left for Real Betis, with Max Wober joining Werder Bremen on loan for the season, and despite the arrivals already, plenty of new additions need to be made over the coming weeks.

Football Insider also understands that Leeds are working on a deal to sign a 20-goals-a-season striker, and while that is exciting for the Elland Road faithful, it screams bad news for Piroe.

The Whites’ last season in the Premier League was a rather disappointing one, finishing 19th in the table with 31 points from 38 games, only bettering Southampton in the 2022/23 campaign.

Leeds will be keen for a different outcome once the 2025/26 season kicks off in a few weeks, and Farke will be able to tell a lot about his squad against Man United, Villarreal, and AC Milan.

Selling Piroe would be an extremely harsh decision, but if the club can find a reasonably priced centre-forward who will light up the Premier League, it could be a frustrating season for the Dutchman.
