‘Rodri and Dias future news after Man City contract talks were suspended’
Man City are making plans for the futures of Ruben Dias and Rodri as the pair approach the latter stages of their contracts with the club.
While there have already been several signings made by Pep Guardiola‘s side in this summer’s transfer window, the duo are sure to remain key figures at the Etihad.
Rodri missed much of last season through injury, and it is telling that in his absence, the club endured a well-below par campaign that ended without any major silverware.
The midfielder made his return to the starting XI on Thursday (26 June), as Man City thrashed Juventus 5-2 in their final Club World Cup group game.
Dias meanwhile, remains one of the more consistent and reliable defensive options within the squad, and so fans will be desperate to see the pair stay.

Man City plot contract talks with key pair
With two years remaining on their current contracts, concerns will be emerging about the futures of the duo at the Etihad.
Indeed, it was reported in March that the club had put talks with the duo on hold, although they will still be keen to keep both individuals [The Athletic].
Earlier this year, Football Insider reported that Man City were planning to offer Rodri a new contract, and the club are not far away from taking such action.
Now, a new update from The Athletic has stated that the Citizens are also set to open negotiations with Dias over a new deal at the end of the Club World Cup.
It is stated that while there is work to be done, neither party will be in a “major rush” to reach a conclusion, suggesting the centre-back is secure at the Etihad.
Meanwhile, Man City are apparently also set to offer a new deal to Rodri, although it is noted that a renewal for Dias is likely to come first.

Rodri and Ruben Dias news a relief for fans
Football Insider Verdict
There is no doubt that supporters of the club will welcome the fact that they look set to make progress over new contracts for the pair.
Both are outstanding players – indeed, Rodri currently holds the Ballon D’or – and so either would be a big loss if they were to depart the club.
It is not only their own ability that would be a miss, but also the leadership and example they can set to others Man City.
That will be important in the coming years especially, as the squad undergoes an overhaul that is starting to see numerous new players be brought to the Etihad.
Rodri and Dias are two players who can help those signings to settle in and hit the ground running as Man City look to get back to winning trophies.
With that in mind it seems there is no way that they can afford to let the pair go, particularly if it could be on the cheap or even for free, so this new update is positive news for the club.
