Rodri hits out after Man City transfer exit admission, does not respect club
Rodri appears to have dropped a fresh hint over a potential move from Man City to Real Madrid, after his latest comments about the Spanish giants.
The midfielder recently raised more than a few eyebrows when he admitted he would have no choice but to pay attention to links with the reigning La Liga champions.
However, the Spanish side were recently absent from the Ballon d’Or ceremony in which the 28-year-old was named the world’s best player.
Madrid boycotted the event in response to Vinicius Jr missing out on the award to Rodri, and it seems that may have left an impression on the Man City man.
Speaking about winning the award and Real’s absence from the ceremony in an interview on The Rest is Football podcast with Gary Lineker and company, he said:
“I can’t describe the emotion [of winning the Ballon d’Or]. In my generation [we] only see two guys winning the trophy [Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo],
“I cannot respect the decision [of Madrid not to turn up to the ceremony]. In sport and in life, it’s important to win. But I think even more how to lose, and I say always the same – it was my moment, I didn’t want to speak about others.
“They didn’t want to be there – I want to be with my club, with my family, the people that were there and clapped me, and that was a fantastic moment”.
Man City fans will surely love Rodri jab at Real Madrid

The fact that the midfielder has come out with a comment such as this will surely be music to the ears of those at The Etihad.
It appears clear, and arguably pretty understandable, that the European champions’ decision not to attend the ceremony has left a bitter taste in the mouth for Rodri.
The fact he no longer respects them means he may therefore be more hesitant about a move to the Spanish giants in the future, if they tried to prize him away, which gives Man City a much better chance of keeping him.

Given how badly they have struggled recently during his absence with an ACL injury, that would be a major boost for them.
It is certainly telling that the Premier League champions look set to accelerate their search for a new midfielder in response to his injury.
That seems to highlight how important they see him to be, so these comments from Rodri should increase the feeling of security around Man City that he will remain their talisman for a long time when he returns to action.
In other news, a fresh claim has been made about Pep Guardiola and the 115 charges hanging over Man City.
