Rodrigo Bentancur posts update to fans after ‘Tottenham offer’ news

Rodrigo Bentancur shared an upbeat message on social media as speculation surrounding his Tottenham future continues.

The Uruguayan midfielder has been busy with his national team in recent weeks, featuring in World Cup qualifying matches against Bolivia and Argentina.

However, it has been a challenging period for Bentancur and his side, with Uruguay failing to secure a victory in either match—losing to the reigning World Cup champions and drawing 0-0 with Bolivia.

Bentancur’s club form this season has also been far from consistent, with injuries and underwhelming performances clouding his impact at Tottenham.

His struggles have led to growing speculation about his future at the club, with Mick Brown, former Man United chief scout, exclusively told Football Insider that Tottenham are prepared to accept offers for Bentancur this summer.

Despite the uncertainty, the midfielder seems to have his focus elsewhere in an update on social media.

Tottenham set to offload Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma amid midfield overhaul

Bentancur shared a positive message on social media, reposting an Instagram post from the official Uruguay account that praised him with the caption: “Rodrigo Bentancur. Guarantee of good football.”

However, Spurs supporters may feel that this “guarantee” has been absent in his performances for the club. There have been growing calls from Tottenham fans for the Bentancur to be sold due to his poor displays this term.

It now seems increasingly likely that the club are preparing for a midfield overhaul as Tottenham are also looking to sell Yves Bissouma, who is no longer seen as part of Ange Postecoglou‘s long-term plans.

With just one year left on their contracts come the summer, both players could be on their way out as the club look to cash in while they still have the opportunity.

Tottenham eyeing Adam Wharton as midfield target amid Man City interest

Despite his inconsistent form, Bentancur has still made 32 appearances in all competitions this season. If he and Bissouma are both sold, Tottenham will need to bolster their midfield options, and it appears they already have a target in mind.

Football Insider revealed that Tottenham are in a race with Manchester City to sign Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace in the summer.

Wharton fits the profile of the kind of player Postecoglou wants to bring in, with his quality and potential seen as a strong addition to Tottenham’s midfield.

If signed, the 21-year-old could provide the defensive solidity and creativity that Tottenham are currently lacking in that area, helping to strengthen the squad moving forward.
