Rodrigo could exit Leeds after intriguing Hay update - La Liga expert

Rodrigo Moreno may leave Leeds United next summer amid reported interest from Barcelona.

That is the view of ex-Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell, who delivered weekly punditry for La Liga TV last season, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 30-year-old’s struggles at Elland Road.

Leeds signed Rodrigo in a club-record £27million deal in the summer of 2020 following their return to the Premier League.

However, injuries and a lack of form have prevented the Spain international from hitting the heights which earned him the move.

According to The Athletic’s Phil Hay (September 3rd), Barcelona “were keen” on signing the Spanish forward in the window just gone.

However, it is said the club’s financial struggles prevented talks with Leeds United from getting off the ground.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if a move could gather pace in 2022, Campbell said: “Can Barcelona afford it?

“That is the big problem for them right now.

“It has not quite worked out for Rodrigo in England but I still think there would be a fair few takers were he to become available next year. I just think the way Leeds play is not conducive to him, that’s all.

“I know he was coveted by other teams but he wanted to come to the Premier League to play every week.

“It has been up and down for him so far so next summer will be interesting. We might see him move on then.”
