Rodrigo Muniz: Fulham hit by shattering new injury blow
Marco Silva has provided an update on how long striker Rodrigo Muniz will be out of action at his pre-Sunderland press conference.
Muniz suffered a hamstring injury during Fulham’s 2-0 defeat at Everton before the international break, which the 24-year-old has had to have surgery on.
The striker has already missed four Premier League games this season due to injury, which has not been helped by Raul Jimenez’s own fitness issues.
Silva is under pressure at Fulham, with the Cottagers just a point above the relegation zone, although the club have offered the 48-year-old a new three-year contract to stay in west London.

Rodrigo Muniz out for three months
Muniz was expected to be out until the new Year, but Silva has now confirmed an even longer period on the sidelines during his pre-Sunderland presser.
As per The Times’ football reporter Peter Rutzler, [21 November], Silva said that Muniz would be out until “February, middle of February,” at the earliest.
Jimenez is the only senior striker at Silva’s disposal, so the news could impact the clubs January transfer activity.
Muniz could miss up to 16 Premier League fixtures, including crucial clashes against relegation rivals Burnley, West Ham and Leeds.
Marco Silva needs January backing
Marco Silva wants assurances that Fulham will back him in the transfer window, which could now be key to the club’s Premier League survival.

A striker could now be the number one priority, with scoring goals already a problem for Silva’s side, but other clubs are also in the same position.
Ivan Toney and Troy Parrott are both in contention to move to the Premier League, and Fulham may now join the queue of clubs fighting for their signatures.
