Danny Mills has tipped Rodrigo Moreno to return to the Leeds United starting XI for their trip to West Ham United on Monday night.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Whites and Engalnd defender suggested Rodrigo’s involvement with the Under-23s on Friday afternoon was a big hint to Marcelo Bielsa’s thinking.
Leeds’ record signing has not featured for the first team since limping off just 20 minutes into their 3-1 win over Leicester City at the end of January.
He made a return to action against Wolves Under-23s on Friday and scored both goals in Leeds 2-0 win in his 45-minute cameo.
The Spain international then took to Instagram to express his delight at being back fit and insisted his focus was on Monday night’s trip to the capital.
Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “We’ve always said that Bielsa likes to work with a small squad.
“Maybe one of Leeds’ weakness has been the strength in depth and that’s never been easy for them.
“When you lose two or three players it’s always difficult.
“Rodrigo played 45 minutes and to have 45 minutes not at full tilt means he can be eased back into it. Then he can be ready to start on Monday.”
Rodrigo has been replaced by Tyler Roberts in the Leeds starting XI but the Welshman has failed to take full advantage of a rare run of starts.
In the 30-year-old’s absence, Leeds have lost four games and won twice with Roberts registering two assists.
