Romeo Lavia posts Chelsea training ground update as he makes return

Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia shared an encouraging update on social media to supporters as preparations begin to face Lincoln City.

The Blues have seen an underwhelming start to the season and are currently on a winless run of three games following Chelsea’s loss to Man United.

One player who continues to recover from an injury in pre-season is Lavia, who is yet to make an appearance this season.

Lavia was called out by Chelsea fans after he showed his off-the-field activities on social media, with frustrations over his lack of playing time.

Now, the Belgian midfielder has given those supporters a promising update regarding his recovery to the pitch.

Romeo Lavia returns to full training for Chelsea

Lavia confirmed on Instagram that he has returned to training with a picture of himself in the latest session, captioned with a smiling emoji.

Maresca also confirmed that the midfielder “took part” in the latest session, but it seems as if the club are easing him into the side, as the manager also revealed he will not be back to face Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup [Chelsea.com].

He has faced numerous injuries since his time joining the Blues, featuring just in 34 matches in all competitions after his arrival in 2023.

However, despite his setbacks, Chelsea supporters have called for Lavia to be sold due to his lack of impact since his big-money arrival.

He joined from Southampton in a deal worth £58 million, but has rarely featured, with the likes of Andrey Santos stepping up in his place in the squad.

Raheem Sterling preparing Chelsea exit in January

While Lavia is working his way back, Raheem Sterling’s future looks all but over at Stamford Bridge.

The Professional Footballer’s Association [PFA] have been in talks with Chelsea over Sterling’s treatment, with him and Axel Disasi banished form first team facilities.

However, Football Insider revealed that Sterling is looking to leave in January after rejecting the possibility of a move to Saudi Arabia.

Although he is unlikely to feature again before the winter window opens, plenty of Premier League clubs have shown interest in the winger ahead of a move.
