Ronald Koeman posts Twitter message to Everton fans ahead of Arsenal clash

By Will Butcher

Ronald Koeman has taken to Twitter to call on his Everton squad to produce a sparkling performance in order to beat Arsenal on Tuesday night.

Koeman, 53, is set to face an uphill task as they welcome the in-form Gunners to Goodison Park, after just one victory coming in the Toffees’ last 11 league and cup encounters.

Posting on his personal Twitter account, Koeman called for a “top performance” from his Everton squad as well as “the support of the fans”.

The Toffees will be looking to put a dismal recent record against Arsenal behind them, after losing their last four games against Arsene Wenger’s side.

Danny Welbeck and Alex Iwobi were on the score sheet last time out for the Gunners, as they secured a 2-0 win at Goodison Park back in March.

Arsenal have remained unbeaten in the league since their opening day defeat to Liverpool, and will look to compound Everton’s misery in their own back yard.

The Toffees are without three-long term absentees in Arouna Kone, Mohamed Besic and £30million signing Yannick Bolasie.

A win for the Toffees against their North London rivals could see them climb two places to seventh, if Watford and West Brom drop points.

In other Everton news, Stan Collymore has named this star as one of the bargains of the transfer window.
