Ronaldo Vieira has stated his main focus in the near future is getting Leeds “back to where they belong”.

Garry Monk’s side have started the Championship season in positive fashion and they currently hold a play-off spot after 16 games.

Midfielder Vieira scored a stunning long-range goal in stoppage-time to help the Whites secure a dramatic 3-2 victory at Norwich in their last fixture.

Now, the 19-year-old has explained what the mindset is like in the Leeds dressing room as they hope to continue their good form.

“The main focus is helping the team, that is what it is all about,” Vieira told the club’s official website. “We want to get Leeds back to where we belong and it has been great so far.

“We are taking it game by game, but it is hard not to look at the table because we haven’t been in this position for a long time.

“Our mind and focus though is all about the next game, we are still early into the season and we need to keep level-headed.”

Despite his young age Vieira has been an integral figure in helping manager Monk push the Championship giants up the table.

Leeds have not tasted top-flight football for 12 years as former Premier League boss Monk has the task of bringing the glory days back to Yorkshire.

Monk’s side will host league leaders Newcastle after the international break with a sell-out crowd expected at Elland Road for the first time in six years.
