Ronaldo Vieira delivers Twitter verdict after Leeds win v Derby

By Dominic Toner

Leeds midfielder Ronaldo Vieira hailed an “unbelievable performance” against Derby on Friday night.

The Whites recorded a 1-0 victory over promotion rivals Derby in the Championship and moved up to third in the league table.

Chris Wood netted the decisive goal on the stroke of half-time as he scored a powerful header from a corner, but Leeds’ dominant display deserved more goals.

Garry Monk’s side were in control for the majority of the match and outclassed their opponents all over the pitch.

Vieira has expressed his delight on Twitter following the win which has seen Leeds close the gap to Newcastle to just four points.

“So proud to be part of this squad. Unbelievable performance tonight, fantastic atmosphere at Elland Road,” Vieira wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Vieira played the full 90 minutes in the Derby victory and bossed the midfield alongside Liam Bridcutt.

The 18-year-old has become an important player in the Leeds side this season and Monk has shown a real desire to integrate the club’s youngsters.

Leeds were forced to start 21-year-old Lewie Coyle due to injuries and suspensions, but the youngster was another player who delivered a fantastic performance.

The Yorkshire club are now firmly inside the play-off positions and are eight points ahead of seventh.

They are now unbeaten in their last seven games across all competitions since they lost to Championship leaders Brighton on 9 December.
