Roy Keane blown away by England star who was a ‘defenders nightmare’ vs Serbia

Roy Keane was left in awe of one players performance for England in their World Cup qualifier against Serbia.

England defeated Serbia 5-0 in Belgrade to open up a seven-point gap at the top of their World Cup qualification group.

The Three Lions beat Andorra 2-0 just days prior to make it a successful international break for Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel will still be contemplating the squad he will take to the World Cup, but one player stood out against Serbia.

Noni Madueke dazzles in England win

Speaking on ITV during half-time of the England against Serbia clash, Roy Keane expressed his delight at Noni Madueke.

Madueke left Chelsea to join Arsenal during the summer window and was also one of the few positives against Andorra.

After 35 minutes, Madueke doubled England’s lead after Harry Kane’s opening goal just minutes before.

At half-time Keane said the winger was giving the Serbia defenders nightmares.

“His movement has impressed me in the last few months. Coming short, then spinning,” Keane said live on ITV.

“There’s a real maturity to his game. He’s giving his team-mate options. He’s been a threat.

“He’s affecting games, he’s giving the defenders a nightmare, and that’s what you want from your attacking players.”

Ezri Konsa grabbed the third goal early into the second half before Serbia went down to ten men to make it a comfortable evening for England.

Marc Guehi and Marcus Rashford scored two goals in the final 15 minutes to add further gloss to the score line.

Madueke stakes England starting claim

Madueke showed a fearlessness to take defends on against Andorra and Serbia, and has cemented himself as the major positive from this international break.

Tuchel has plenty of attacking talent at his disposal and will be encouraged by Madueke’s performances down the right flank.

Madueke is competing for a place in the Arsenal team and is not a guaranteed start at Emirates Stadium which could count against the 23-year-old, who also needs to start adding more end product to his game in the Premier League.

Tuchel would have learnt a lot about his England team in Serbia and be pleased how they strolled to victory in hostile surroundings without the likes of Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden.
