Roy Keane delivers no-holds-barred assessment of Tottenham title chances

By Harvey Byrne

Roy Keane has said Tottenham have “no chance” of winning the Premier League title in the new campaign, stating they should focus on the FA Cup and League Cup instead.

Spurs are the only unbeaten side left in the Premier League after eight matches and they sit one point behind league leaders Manchester City with 18 points.

However, Manchester United great Keane has dismissed the north London side’s chances of winning their first Premier League trophy.

“It’s in their own hands, (Qualifying for Champions League knock out stages) but this idea the can they can win the Premier League, I think no chance,” told Keane to ITV Sport, as quoted by the Sun.

“I don’t care, I can’t see them winning the Premier League, but they are progressing really well as a football club. It’s now about getting their hands on a trophy, what I mean is the FA Cup or League cup.”

Spurs are currently battling across three competitions in the EFL Cup, Champions League and Premier League before they enter the FA Cup in January.

They are sat in second place in their Champions League group with four points from three matches, while they will face Liverpool in the EFL Cup next Tuesday.

The north London club were considered by many as the only club who could overthrow Leicester towards the end of last season before a collapse which saw them finish in third.

They will now be keen to improve on the finish from their last campaign.

In other Tottenham news, Toby Alderweireld and Harry Kane have been ruled out of Spurs’ Premier League clash against Bournemouth on Saturday.
