Roy Keane predicts how Liverpool will perform next season, shares Arsenal and Man City claims

Liverpool have gone 15 points clear at the top of the Premier League but the side are expected to be even “stronger” next season, according to Roy Keane.

Liverpool took another step towards the Premier League title with a 3-1 comeback win over Southampton on 8 March, overturning an early setback to secure all three points at Anfield.

Will Smallbone stunned the home crowd by giving the visitors an unlikely lead, despite Liverpool’s protests for a foul in the build-up.

However, former PGMOL chief Keith Hackett revealed that Matheus Fernandes did not impede Alisson Becker enough for the goal to be ruled out.

The home side responded in the second half, with Darwin Nunez levelling the score before Mohamed Salah converted two penalties to seal the victory.

Following Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United on 9 March, Arne Slot’s side now hold a commanding 15-point advantage at the top of the table, bringing them even closer to winning the title in his first season.

Roy Keane questions Arsenal’s title mindset as Liverpool grow stronger

Keane delivered a scathing assessment of Arsenal’s title credentials after their draw with United, suggesting Liverpool will be even “stronger” next season while casting doubt on the Gunners’ mentality.

Speaking on Sky Sports Super Sunday, Keane questioned whether Mikel Arteta’s side has the right mindset to go all the way.

“They’ve (Arsenal) got close over the last few years, but [Manchester] City will be strong next year, and I’m sure Liverpool will be too.

“Where is the evidence to think they (Arsenal) can do it? Getting a striker in would help, but have they got the right mentality? Has the manager?”

Liverpool
Arne Slot has Liverpool 15 points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

He continued, “Will City and Liverpool just stand still? They’re going to look to improve. Pep [Guardiola] will bounce back, and I think Liverpool will be stronger next season.

“Liverpool will be looking at that and not thinking they’re going to be put under pressure. They’ll be thinking Arsenal have almost given up the title chase.”

With Liverpool expected to undergo a squad rebuild this summer, reinforcements are likely, particularly after a quiet transfer window in January and last summer.

Liverpool set sights on Alexander Isak and Milos Kerkez as summer rebuild begins

Despite ongoing contract concerns with key players such as Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, Slot’s side remain dominant in the league, showing no signs of distraction.

The Reds are already planning for the summer, with Football Insider revealing that Liverpool are making progress in their pursuit of Milos Kerkez as a potential long-term successor to Andy Robertson.

In addition to Kerkez, Liverpool have also been linked with Arsenal target Alexander Isak. If the Swede arrives at Anfield, the challenge for the Gunners to keep pace next season could become even steeper.

Slot has earned praise for his achievements in his debut season, but the focus now shifts to the Champions League showdown against PSG on 11 March, followed by the Carabao Cup final on 16 March, where the side will look to secure their first silverware under his leadership.
