Ruben Amorim Exclusive: Sack update after ‘shock’ Man United confession
Ruben Amorim is fully expected to be in charge at Man United at the start of the 2025-26 campaign – even if they lose the Europa League final against Tottenham, sources have told Football Insider.
The United boss was downcast after Sunday’s (11 May) 2-0 home defeat against West Ham, which left his side 16th in the Premier League table.
Amorim even hinted at a shock potential departure, exactly six months after his arrival at Old Trafford.
He said: “We should give the space to different people” if he cannot transform the culture at Man United.

However, it is believed the Red Devils have drawn up a long-term plan with Amorim and they are not considering parting company with the Portuguese boss.
The 40-year-old’s words are likely to be borne out of frustration with the club’s run to the Europa League final papering over the cracks of their terrible Premier League form.

United will take on Tottenham in Bilbao next week (21 May) with the Europa League trophy and a place in next season’s Champions League at stake.
Meanwhile, they sit 16th in the Premier League table having picked up just 39 points from 36 games this term.
Amorim’s contract at Old Trafford is set to run until June 2027 after his mid-season arrival from Sporting CP last year (2024).

Man United set hardline Fernandes stance
Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (11 May) that Man United have set out a hardline stance on Bruno Fernandes’ potential move to the Saudi Pro League this summer.
Sources have told Football Insider that Fernandes is not for sale under any circumstances this summer, and the 30-year-old has no desire to leave United for Saudi Arabia after another world-class campaign.
He has notched 19 goals and 19 assists in 54 appearances across all competitions this term.
