Ruben Amorim fearing the worst as Man United signing ‘exposed’ away from Old Trafford
Ruben Amorim will have gained zero confidence in one of his new Man United signings during the international break.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has backed Amorim for three more years at Old Trafford, but just because they claimed a simple 2-0 win over Sunderland, it does not mean that all the pressure has vanished.
The Red Devils splashed hundreds of millions on a new squad for the manager over the summer period. Yet, after seven games, the team are sitting 10th in the Premier League table.
Bryan Mbeumo arrived from Brentford, with Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko redesigning the front line, and Senne Lammens being signed as yet another new goalkeeper.
Some have bedded in much quicker than others.

Benjamin Sesko’s struggles continue away from Man United
Sesko opened his Man United goalscoring account against Brentford before scoring a close-range goal against Sunderland, but even so, it has been a very difficult transition for the £73million striker this term.
It is, obviously, early days for the 23-year-old, but some supporters have already started to question if purchasing him was the right choice when there were several more experienced centre-forwards.
Those concerns will not at all be alleviated by Sesko’s recent outing on international duty, as Slovenia drew 0-0 with Kosovo on Friday, 10 October, a game in which he was silenced.

In 90 minutes, the striker had just 26 touches, and while he unleashed a total of five shots in that time, only one was on target, creating an expected goals (xG) of 0.52 [FotMob].
Slovenian media’s reaction to Sesko should be a huge worry for Ruben Amorim
Reporting on the disappointing result, Ekipa wrote: “In Kosovo, coach Matjaz Kek’s proteges showed that, despite the points gap, they are a better team than the hosts, and it is even more obvious that they have more shine. Especially, the most exposed are Jan Oblak and Benjamin Sesko.”
Man United‘s new signing was single-handedly picked up, alongside Atletico Madrid’s goalkeeper, as one of the weaker performers against a team 41 spots lower than Slovenia in the FIFA rankings.
If Sesko cannot prove himself against a much lower quality of team than those in the Premier League, why should Amorim have any confidence that he is the man to lead the Red Devils forward?
It took multiple games until the manager trusted the new signing. Could Sesko slowly be revealing why Amorim was so cautious to throw him into the lineup? It certainly seems that way.
