Ruben Amorim hit by new injury blow before his first Man United game

Ruben Amorim hasn’t led Man United out for his first game in charge yet and he has already been handed an injury blow during the international break.

Victor Lindelof limped off during Sweden’s 2-1 win against Slovakia on Saturday (16 November) just 26 minutes into the fixture.

It adds to United’s growing injury list from a defensive perspective, with Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro both sidelined while Lisandro Martinez withdrew from the Argentina squad because of a hip issue.

Jonny Evans and Matthijs de Ligt are Amorim’s only fit centre-back options for his first game in charge on Sunday (24 November) against Ipswich Town.

It isn’t just at centre-back where United have injury concerns as Luke Shaw is still not fully fit, while Kobbie Mainoo has only just returned to first-team training.

Mason Mount, Christian Eriksen, and Antony have also had issues lately which are stretching Amorim’s options as he looks to kickstart his time in charge of United with a win.

Man United will be without Victor Lindelof moving forward

Lindelof showcased his frustration on Saturday by punching the ground several times before throwing away his captain’s armband.

The 30-year-old has only managed to play 58 minutes in the Premier League this season across four different outings in the top flight.

Lindelof missed the start of the season because of a toe problem, and now it appears that it will be another spell on the sidelines for the defender.
