Ruben Amorim ‘not worthy of any support’ at Man United

Man United manager Ruben Amorim is said to not deserve any support from the supporters thanks to what he has done in charge at the club.

The 40-year-old took charge at Old Trafford back in November, when he replaced Erik ten Haag in charge of the Red Devils.

However, things did not go at all well during the Portuguese manager’s first six months in charge, with the club slipping to a 15th place finish in the Premier League table.

Man United were also beaten by Tottenham in the Europa League final, meaning they missed out both on silverware and qualification for next season’s Champions League.

Simon Jordan hits out at Ruben Amorim

In the wake of those struggles, Amorim has previously suggested that he would walk away from the club for free if the hierarchy wanted him to.

However, Jim Ratcliffe apparently has no intention of accepting the Man United manager’s resignation should he offer it this summer.

Meanwhile, the club’s fans have continued to show their support for Amorim, with their chants of his name being audibly heard at most matches.

Amid all that, the club’s CEO Omar Berrada has insisted that they are on the right path, although Simon Jordan is unconvinced by that backing of the Man United manager.

Reacting to those claims from Berrada while speaking on talkSPORT, the former Crystal Palace chairman said: “He can only say this once. Now Amorim has been given the dispensation to turn it into something worse than it was before he inherited it. He’s been given that dispensation and the fans cheer him: ‘we’ve got Amorim’.

“They’ve got no business cheering him because he’s done nothing. In fact he’s made them worse. But we all believe it’s in pursuit of this holy grail which we’re going to see which is this pivot into the Amorim way of playing and it’s all going to be worthwhile. Ok then, away you go.

“Because if it’s anything like last season next season, then Amorim won’t be there, and neither will Berrada, so you get to make this statement once.

“If you emphatically believe, and they’ve got lots of work to do, the right pathway, get rid of Sancho, get rid of Rashford, get rid of Casemiro, get rid of Antony, get rid of Garnacho. Get rid of these players, monetize them as best you can, and look to build a new mentality inside this football club that Ruben Amorim can either do or he can’t.

“Whether we believe the rumours that he’s been in and offered his resignation, and been told to get out and get on with the job, who knows.

“But what we’ve seen from Amorim, he is not worthy of any support at this moment in because he’s done nothing to generate it.

“And United fans are so desperate for success that if you gave them a glass of sand and told them it was water they’d drink it!”

Man United need to turn things around quickly

Football Insider Verdict

As Jordan alludes to here, things have not been easy since for Amorim since he took charge of the club, with a number of players simply not producing what is a required of them.

This is therefore going to be a big summer at Old Trafford, both in terms of moving those individuals out, and improving the squad with their replacements.

Work has already begun on doing that, with Matheus Cunha completing a move to Man United from Wolves.

Meanwhile, Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo seemingly still favours a move to Old Trafford, and so there are signs that Amorim will be backed.

He will therefore have to respond by delivering results, since if he does not, Man United will struggle to continue to attract high calibre players that can restore them to their former glory.

Right now though, the way that the club have regressed in terms of performances since his arrival, means that despite the support he has been given, there ought to be some wariness around the whole situation.
