Ruben Amorim shocks at Man United – ‘What’s he doing?’
Ruben Amorim has left Tim Sherwood “shocked” with how little he seems to have achieved since arrival at Man United.
The 40-year-old took charge of the Red Devils back in November last year following the sacking of Erik ten Hag.
Amorim’s appointment as Man United manager was met with the backing of the club’s supporters, although results have yet to get going.
The Red Devils are still only 13th in the Premier League table, with Amorim’s side needed an offside Harry Maguire goal to get past struggling Leicester City in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Friday (7 February).
Tim Sherwood hits out at Ruben Amorim amid Man United struggles
It was an unconvincing performance from Amorim‘s side in victory over the Foxes, which has now led to Sherwood questioning what the manager is doing in training as the wait for improvement continues.
Speaking about the Man United boss on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday, the former Aston Villa and Tottenham manager said (2:15pm): “I’m shocked how bad he’s done, Ruben. What’s he doing on the training pitch? They look clueless.
“They don’t know what the pattern is. What is the pattern? How do they want to play? I know how they wanted to play at Sporting, but you’ve had long enough to show them some principles so we can see something. We can’t see anything…
“He’s a fantastic talker. He goes into the press conferences and he absolutely disarms the reporters straight away because he says ‘we are terrible, we are the worst team’. They can’t ask him any negative questions after that…
“He just totally rips apart his team. He’s ripping them apart and they’re listening to that, the owners are listening to that, the fans are listening to that. Who he’s talking to is the fans really because he wants them to give him a little bit of grace.”
Ruben Amorim ‘disarms reporters’ with his incredible Man United claims
Right now the Man United boss does feel as though he is being given time to lay foundations for his reign with the club.
This appointment has brought about a change of system, switching to the back-three system Amorim previously used during his time as a manager in Portugal.

There will need to be some time for those changes to take effect, but the fact there has been little sign of improvement when it comes to results or performances is a concern.
That is something that will have to change sooner rather than later if Amorim is to convince observers both inside and outside the club that he is the right man for the job.
Away from the pitch, Man United have also taken a gamble with the transfer window exit of Marcus Rashford to Aston Villa, after issues between the attacker and manager.
So if he starts to thrive in the Midlands while struggles continue at Old Trafford, questions may start to be asked about Amorim in a number of ways.
