Ruben Amorim urged to keep one Man United player on the bench – ‘He hasn’t done that well’

Ruben Amorim has been told that one player is not up to the quality of being a starter at Man United.

Amorim’s side are currently on a five match unbeaten run after Matthijs de Ligt’s header rescued Man United a point at Tottenham.

The Red Devils are just one point off the Champions League places, but Amorim has still been questioned at Man United.

Ruben Amorim should ‘keep Manuel Ugarte on the bench’

As per The Metro, [13 November], former Man United defender Paul Parker believes Manuel Ugarte is becoming a liability off the bench for Amorim.

He hasn’t done that well. I quite liked him because he was a breath of fresh air when he arrived, someone who wanted to run around and he got stuck in, very rarely lost possession even when under pressure,” Parker said.

But when he comes on now, United concede. They generally concede. At best they start to be under pressure, and that’s because of someone like Casemiro’s coming off for him.

So, at the moment in time, if I’m the manager of Manchester United, no need to make systematic changes.

Full-backs might change, but the middle stays the same. Get continuity in that midfield. Even when things are going okay and you’re 1-0 up and the team look comfortable, they can be more comfortable.

Especially if you keep it the same rather than making three or four changes. Unnecessary changes, just to give people minutes. Keep Casemiro on, keep Ugarte on the bench.

Man United want Casemiro to take pay cut

Man United want Casemiro to remain at the club, but only on the condition that the midfielder takes a significant pay cut.

The 33-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season, and the Red Devils have the option to extend that agreement by a year.

With Kobbie Mainoo wanting to quit Man United, Amorim looks set to have to dip into the transfer market should he not wish to give Ugarte more opportunities in the team.
