Ruben Amorim’s Kobbie Mainoo agenda to be exposed after new developments at Man United
Ruben Amorim has a huge chance to prove that his relationship with Kobbie Mainoo has not yet broken down at Man United.
Mainoo is facing a frustrating exit at Old Trafford ahead of the January transfer window, with the midfielder given very little time on the pitch during the 2025-26 campaign.
The 20-year-old has just 212 minutes of Premier League football to his name, and his last start came in the infamous Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby Town back in August.
Everton have been linked with Mainoo’s signature, not for the first time, but the Toffees will have to battle against a multitude of Premier League and European giants, such as Serie A side Napoli.

Kobbie Mainoo has been told his main competition at Old Trafford
The academy product has slipped down the pecking order in recent months, with Casemiro being given the starting position alongside Bruno Fernandes, with Manuel Ugarte coming off the bench.
Ugarte was absolutely atrocious against Aston Villa on Sunday, 21 December, with Amorim turning to Lisandro Martinez and Jack Fletcher to play in the centre of midfield, and Mainoo was injured.
Even if the England international had been fit, there is no guarantee that he would have made the cut at Villa Park, with the manager repeatedly saying that he is competing directly with Fernandes.
That situation has continued to baffle supporters, mainly because the duo play completely different positions, but that should no longer be a problem for Mainoo.
Ruben Amorim has no excuses left not to play Man United gem
Fernandes is set to be sidelined for a month after pulling up against the Villans. If Amorim really is telling the truth, Mainoo should be thrown straight into the starting lineup.
This would end all suggestions of a fallout between player and manager, which could be huge ahead of the January transfer window, but very few supporters are holding their breath at Old Trafford.
United fans have been crying out for the 20-year-old to finally be given more game time, and this is the perfect opportunity for the manager to get a large chunk of the supporters off his back.
There are very few members of the squad capable of producing the same magic as Fernandes, especially with Bryan Mbeumo now at AFCON, so the Red Devils will have to search for a new solution.
