'Great news', 'Fantastic' - Celtic fans react to major player announcement

Celtic midfielder and captain Scott Brown has called time on his Scotland international career on Monday following Alex McLeish’s appointment to the national post.
The combative player had 55 caps and four goals for his country and informed McLeish as to his decision over the weekend.
And with the news of the Hoops’ ace decision filtering through, supporters of the club are delighted and believe that it will extend his domestic career instead.
It is the second time that Brown has quit the international scene after doing so back in 2016 but returned to the fold following a two month absence.
The 32-year-old told McLeish that he had arrived at his conclusion due to his age and felt that he could not perform on the home front if he was still playing competitively internationally.
Brown has been key to the Hoops success and his swashbuckling style of play has made him hugely popular amongst the Celtic faithful.
One fan said “Great news for Celtic,” after hearing the announcement, while another added, “Few seasons left to dominate.”
Only on Sunday, the player was involved in an incident with Aberdeen’s Sam Cosgrove who launched in on the Bhoys captain as the Dons suffered a 2-0 defeat at home and the 32-year-old was lauded on social media for his part in the melee.
Here is a selection of Twitter responses to the news of the player’s international verdict:
