Ruud van Nistelrooy ready to accept job amid Southampton sack latest

Ruud van Nistelrooy is keen to remain in the Premier League amid potential openings at Southampton, Wolves and Crystal Palace, sources have told Football Insider.

All three clubs sit in the bottom three with Russell Martin, Gary O’Neil and Oliver Glasner all coming under increased pressure.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (18 November) that Van Nistelrooy, 48, is under consideration for the vacant manager’s job at Coventry City just days after leaving Man United.

The ex-striker took interim charge at Old Trafford after Erik ten Hag’s sacking and was very keen to remain on the staff at United – but Ruben Amorim decided against keeping him when he arrived.

It is unclear whether Premier League clubs are considering a move for Van Nistelrooy but he is now keen to forge a career as a number one in England.

Burnley previously considered appointing the Dutchman before his move to Old Trafford in the off-season.

Van Nistelrooy wants Premier League job with Southampton boss Martin in danger

Southampton sit bottom of the Premier League after losing to Wolves last time out to heap pressure on Martin, who has overseen just one league win in 11 games this term.

Football Insider revealed on 12 November that Southampton will not be put off by the £12million cost of changing managers after handing the 38-year-old a new deal in the off-season.

It is believed that a change at the top will be inevitable if bad results continue and the fans turn against Martin.

Wolves and Crystal Palace make up the Premier League’s bottom three but have seen a slight upturn in results in recent weeks.
