‘Ruud van Nistelrooy will be sacked by Leicester City’ after ‘disaster’

Ruud van Nistelrooy is likely to be sacked by Leicester City at the end of the season after failing to turn around their fortunes since his appointment.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he explained that the club have already begun assessing their options to replace the 48-year-old.

This comes after a “disastrous” run of eight straight defeats, during which they have scored just one goal and conceded 20, and have moved 15 points away from safety.

Following his appointment as manager, Brown warned Football Insider that Van Nistelrooy would face “major problems” at Leicester, who are now odds-on for relegation.

Since the manager’s arrival in November, the Foxes have won just three of their 19 games, one of which came against Championship QPR in the FA Cup.

Now, the manager is set to take the blame for their poor league performances as they plan to head in a new direction come the summer break.

Ruud van Nistelrooy faces Leicester sack after latest update

Brown previously told Football Insider that Van Nistelrooy is under growing pressure at Leicester but should not be surprised by the calls for his head.

The former scout, who was instrumental in signing Van Nistelrooy for Man United in 2001 and has a wealth of experience working closely with top-level managers, insisted that the boss was in a difficult position from the start.

If you’re in the bottom three and still losing games, there’s always pressure,” he told Football Insider.

“Given the disastrous form they’ve been in, eight defeats in a row, I expect he will be sacked.

“It will probably be done at the end of the season, so between now and then they will already been looking for potential replacements.

“I don’t think he was given the strongest of hands when he arrived at Leicester.

“There are a lot of players there who simply aren’t up to it, they’re not Premier League-level players and that has shown over the course of the season.

“There’s a huge job that needs doing in the recruitment department there.

“Some of the players are ageing, others aren’t good enough, but at the moment I couldn’t tell you a single manager that would have kept this team up.

“So Ruud will take the blame for it, he’ll be the one to lose his job, but the issues go far deeper than him.

PSR update emerges at the King Power Stadium

The off-field issues at Leicester look set to continue regardless of the manager’s future as they face potential sanctions for their breaches of financial rules.

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson told Football Insider on 6 April that Leicester have failed PSR and appear to be £100million over their spending limit.

Despite being charged by the Premier League for breaching the profit and sustainability rules (PSR) in 2022-23, Leicester avoided a points deduction after exploiting a loophole in the rules.

However, that case is still ongoing as the two parties remain in arbitration following the club’s breach.
