Giggs believes Kane could leave because of transfer of this former Tottenham star
Ryan Giggs believes that the transfer of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid could have a long term effect on Tottenham Hotspur striker, Harry Kane.
Speaking on Sky Sports, as quoted by The Mirror, the Wales manager believes the desire to win trophies, as Bale has done in Madrid, could tempt the England international.
“When a player goes to a team where they are going to be competing for leagues and trophies then you go up another level.
“He [Kane] might also be looking abroad, and maybe seeing what Gareth Bale has achieved in winning three Champions League titles with Real Madrid.”
The two time Premier League golden boot winner has widely been the subject of rumours linking him to Real Madrid, and has stated his intention to start winning trophies.
However, it seems the England international’s loyalty to Spurs will prohibit any transfer in the immediate future, and Giggs believes that winning at your club is a better feeling.
“But winning things with a club where you’ve come through the ranks is different and more special, so you’d prefer to do that.”
Spurs came tantalisingly close to winning the Premier League during the 2015/16 season, falling short in the last few games as Leicester City were the surprise victors.
Another chance at silverware for Kane was the 2015 EFL Cup final, where Spurs lost 2-0 to Chelsea at Wembley.
If Mauricio Pochettino’s men progress past Newport County in the FA Cup replay this evening, Kane will be one step closer to the trophy he so desires.
