Ryan Gravenberch, Van Dijk reply to message from Liverpool ace Curtis Jones

Liverpool stars Ryan Gravenberch and Virgil van Dijk replied to a message from teammate Curtis Jones on social media.

After years of showing potential but failing to truly make his mark, this past season has felt like a breakout campaign for the 24-year-old.

Jones appeared in 33 games, starting 19 and playing in a variety of positions, including right-back when Liverpool lost to Fulham.

However, whilst his performance against the Whites was sub-par, the England international has been a reliable player when called upon by Arne Slot.

But for as good as he has been this season, Jones will have to work harder than ever this summer as Florian Wirtz looks set to join Liverpool, and the pair both play the same positions.

Curtis Jones shares message with Liverpool fans

Following their parade to celebrate becoming Premier League champions, Jones shared a plethora of images on Instagram, captioned: “The past month or so…” with a trophy and a love heart emoji.

The England international’s club captain Van Dijk responded with a love heart emoji of his own, whilst Gravenberch one-upped his teammate by posting three love heart emojis.

Curtis Jones set to stay as Harvey Elliott heads for Liverpool exit

Football Insider Verdict

Whilst Jones’ role at Liverpool has grown this season under Slot, Harvey Elliott’s has diminished significantly.

The former Fulham man featured 34 times in the Premier League last season, starting 11 games and averaging 40 minutes per game.

But this season, the 22-year-old has made just 18 appearances in the league, starting twice and averaging just 22 minutes per game.

Wirtz’s impending arrival seems to have spelt the end for Elliott at Liverpool, and the former Blackburn loanee could be seen in tears on the pitch at Anfield during the Reds’ final game of the season.

Slot has shown he prefers Jones in the midfield role and despite not being a natural winger, whilst the former Fulham man began his career out wide, the 24-year-old has been preferred there as well.
