Ryan Jack handed ‘huge blow’ after ‘devastating’ update – Rangers TV pundit
Alan Hutton has admitted Ryan Jack has been dealt a “huge blow” after being ruled out through injury again at Rangers.
The former Gers defender and Rangers TV pundit, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 29-year-old could be a “fantastic” player for Giovanni van Bronckhorst if he could stay fit.
As confirmed by Van Bronckhorst on Tuesday (14 December), Jack will be out of action until after the winter break.
The midfielder returned from his long-term calf injury in November but suffered a setback in training.
With Jack set to sit out any competitive action until late January, Hutton admitted it is a “devastating” blow.
Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “It’s a huge blow. I can only sit here and just hope that it isn’t serious.
“I was thrilled to see him back. He does a fantastic job. The way Rangers are playing at the moment, with two holding midfielders, I think he suits that down to the ground.
“To hear he’s picked up yet another injury, after missing the Euros in the summer and being out for such a long time, it must be devastating.
“You really feel for the boy because he can offer so much. You hope that it’s not too bad. It’s maybe just a tweak or he’s maybe just felt something getting into that high-pressure atmosphere.
“You have to be explosive so maybe he’s just felt something. Hopefully, he’s back as soon as possible and it’s not really a long term thing.”

Jack underwent surgery on a calf injury back in May.
He has managed to make just three appearances this season after returning to fitness.
