Ryan Kent cited amid ‘horrendous’ Rangers claim – ‘it’s not right’, says expert

Frank McAvennie has insisted Rangers are in a “horrendous situation” with player contracts.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker said Ryan Kent will not sign a new contract at Ibrox and insisted the club should not have let his contract run down.

Kent, Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Jack are all out of contract in the summer and have yet to agree new deals.

Rangers

Back in October, this site revealed that Kent, 26, rejected a new ‘big-money’ contract offer as he sets his sights on a move to the Premier League.

The winger has started all but one league game for the Light Blues this season and has scored two goals and provided six assists in those outings.

Last month, as quoted by footballscotland (11 December), Beale, who also worked with Kent at Liverpool, believes the winger wants to be at the club.

During his previous stint at Ibrox, Beale said the winger told him that he didn’t want to leave Rangers until they had won something.

But McAvennie claimed Kent’s time at Rangers is up.

Kent is playing well now,” he told Football Insider.

Rangers

He has been playing well since Beale came in but is it enough? He is not signing a new contract. So that is another one, Jack’s deal as well runs out in the summer.

That is a horrendous situation. Football clubs should not let players get in to the final year of their contract, that is just not right.
