Ryan Kent: Leeds United tipped to submit Rangers star bid after news in recent hours – pundit

Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested Leeds United could launch a move for Rangers’ Ryan Kent if they sell Raphinha this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Kent would only be able to move to a bottom-half Premier League club if he quits Ibrox.

Club sources told Football Insider yesterday (22 March) they are set to offer the 25-year-old a new deal but may have to sell him this summer as his current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2023.

Leeds have been long-term admirers of the Englishman but ended up singing Dan James next summer.

Fabrizio Romano reported earlier today (23 March) Raphinha now wants to join Barcelona and there has been contact with his agent Deco and they will launch a formal move when Leeds’ Premier League status is clear.

“Ryan Kent, I do rate him as a quality player,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“But I look at it and what Premier League club would he go to?

“You’re looking at the bottom half of the table for Ryan Kent. He’s not a top-10 player. He’s not someone Steven Gerrard would sign with the players that Aston Villa could choose out of in the world.

“Yes, he probably wants to test himself in the Premier League but I’m not sure which club would suit him.

“Maybe Leeds, if Raphinha does go, then they can use a bit of that money and bring one in.

“I like him but the Premier League is a different kettle of fish compared to the Scottish Premiership.

“It will be interesting to see what happens but if he does go I think it will be one of the lower teams in the Premier League. It’s totally different style of football too, in terms of dominating games.

“Rangers will want to cash in if they can’t agree a new contract.”
