‘Sacked tonight’ – Liverpool fans say the same thing about Arne Slot dismissal after ‘shocking’ twist
Arne Slot has been unable to relieve the pressure that is mounting on him at Liverpool in recent weeks.
The Reds are the reigning Premier League champions, but they have fallen firmly off the pace in 2025-26, and already find themselves 14 points behind Arsenal at the top of the table by the campaign’s 20-game mark.
Slot’s position at Liverpool has been called into question several times in recent months, and a nine-game unbeaten run in all competitions has done little to quell any of that speculation of late.
The Dutchman has been struggling to find a reliable solution to the issues that have mounted up at Anfield, and fans have quickly lost patience with him.

Liverpool fans demand Arne Slot sacking after Fulham draw
Liverpool were held to a 2-2 draw at Fulham on Sunday afternoon, and the game ended in hugely frustrating fashion for the visitors.
The Merseysiders fought their way back from an early deficit at Craven Cottage, and Cody Gakpo then put them ahead for the first time in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
Slot’s men seemingly had the three points sealed, only for Harrison Reed to spark a stunning late twist, as he drew the hosts level with a blockbuster long-distance strike in the 97th minute.
It capped off another frustrating afternoon for Liverpool, who have now drawn back-to-back games against teams in the bottom half of the table.
Liverpool fans took to X to share their frustrations after the game, and supporters were in agreement that Slot needs to be removed from his position as quickly as possible.
One supporter suggested that the Fulham draw was “shocking” management from Slot, while another fan added: “If Slot isn’t sacked tonight, then I don’t know where this club is going.”
- @Andyc1178: “Slot out tonight!”
- @wadelfc77: “FSG I want Slot gone tonight we have had enough.”
- @FrankieByrne9: “This has been absolute rubbish again from Liverpool. Slot has to be fired tonight.”
Michael Edwards to blame for Mohamed Salah issue at Anfield
Former Everton and Aston Villa chief executive Keith Wyness recently told Football Insider that he feels that Michael Edwards is more to blame than Slot for the recent failings at Liverpool.
The controversy surrounding Mohamed Salah’s unhappiness at the club placed major scrutiny on the manager, with many expecting him to ultimately pay the price by losing his job, but Wyness believes that the CEO is the man to blame.
All eyes are on Slot at Anfield at the moment, but Wyness was keen to stress that the root causes of many of the current problems are likely to have from Edwards and other figures above the manager in the hierarchy.
Regardless of who is ultimately to blame, supporters have completely lost faith in the club to turn things around, and it will eventually be Slot who pays for that.
