Sadio Mane sends message to Pape Sarr after Tottenham Europa League win

Sadio Mane has congratulated Pape Sarr after Tottenham beat Manchester United 1-0 in Wednesday’s Europa League final.

Ange Postecoglou’s men successfully clinched their first European trophy since 1984 thanks to Brennan Johnson’s goal.

The North Londoners have enjoyed a memorable ending to an otherwise dismal campaign which sees them sitting 17th in the Premier League with one game left to play.

But this season will never be forgotten by the Tottenham faithful, who witnessed their side win silverware for the first time in 17 years.

Tottenham and Daniel Levy face tough Postecoglou decision

Postecoglou has heaped pressure on himself throughout the domestic season, as Spurs have suffered a whopping 21 Premier League defeats this term.

The North London outfit were also left embarrassed by their 4-0 defeat to Liverpool in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final on 6 February before being knocked out of the FA Cup by eventual semi-finalists Aston Villa just three days later.

But the Europa League has provided a very different narrative for Tottenham, who have utilised the European competition to claim silverware for the first time since 2008.

However, thanks to their Premier League woes, Postecoglou has come under constant scrutiny throughout the campaign before delivering on his bold promise of a trophy in his second season in charge.

Spurs owner Daniel Levy must now weigh up whether Tottenham’s Europa League success is enough to keep Postecoglou in North London, or if his poor domestic exploits are worthy of the sack.
