Sadio Mane: Pundit calls for ‘change’ at Liverpool after what Gary Neville spotted

Paul Robinson has claimed Sadio Mane must accept the increased competition at Liverpool after reacting angrily to being substituted in the League Cup final.

However, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England goalkeeper insisted the 29-year-old’s future is not in doubt despite the early success of Luis Diaz.

Mane reacted angrily to being replaced by Diogo Jota in the second-half of Liverpool’s League Cup final triumph over Chelsea on Sunday.

Speaking on Sky Sports (27 February 6.07pm), Gary Neville observed the Senegal international ‘snatch his jacket’ after being ‘unhappy’ at Jurgen Klopp’s decision to withdraw him.

Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz remained on the pitch in a move which perhaps hinted at the new pecking order at Anfield.

When asked by Football Insider if Klopp’s wealth of attacking options could become troublesome, Robinson said:

“I don’t think it’s going to be a problem going forward. Players like Mane have to realise that rotation is necessary for a team to compete for the Champions League, Premier League and domestic cups.

“Mane has been outstanding this season. He does not have anything to worry about. Diaz has come in and he will play his part but he isn’t there to replace Mane.

“It has to be said though, [Roberto] Firmino, Mane and Salah are not guaranteed starters in the big games now that Jota and Diaz are there. Things have changed.

“That is something they will have to adapt to. It will not be a big issue though given the amount of games they have. It is an attitude change that has to happen.”
