How Sakho responded to Benteke scoring for Palace against Liverpool
By Harry Sykes
Mamadou Sakho joined Christian Benteke in celebration of his equalising goal for Crystal Palace against Liverpool on Sunday.
Pictures from broadcaster Sky Sports showed a tracksuited Sakho racing to the touchline to indulge in a bizarre celebratory handshake with the ex-Anfield striker immediately after he had equalised to make it 1-1 in the Premier League fixture.
Sakho is on loan at Palace from Liverpool for the second half of the season after being frozen out by Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
But he was ineligible to line up for Sam Allardyce’s side against his parent club due to Premier League rules that forbid a loan player from doing so.
Nevertheless, a tracksuited Sakho was on the Palace substitute’s bench and notably appeared to be supporting his new teammates rather than his permanent employers.

The France international’s antics are unlikely to have gone down well with the Liverpool bench or the 40,000-plus home supporters.
Sakho is contracted to Liverpool until 2020 but fell out of favour during pre-season after being late for a number of scheduled team sessions and meetings.
The 27-year-old has made a big impact for Palace in recent months, starting seven consecutive matches ahead of the clash against Liverpool.
Palace have won five of those games and drawn one other to ease their relegation fears.
In other Liverpool transfer news, the club are clear favourites to sign a world-class playmaker after a dramatic development.
