Salgado: This Tottenham star is amazing, but not worth asking price

By Harvey Byrne

Former Real Madrid and Spain international defender Michel Salgado has spoken very highly of Tottenham star Dele Alli.

However, he believes Spurs’ £100million plus valuation of him is too much.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has become a key player for the north London club after breaking into the team at the beginning of the last campaign.

He has often been linked with a move to Europe’s biggest clubs and Salgado has shared that he would like to see Real Madrid sign him, but not for triple figures.

“They (Real Madrid) should pursue him because he is a great player,” told Salgado, as quoted by TalkSPORT presenter Alan Brazil’s Twitter account.

“He’s very young; he’s got great ability and has pace as well. The problem is that the price is too much. I think if they paid that money [£100million] for Dele Alli it would be crazy.

“The guys is amazing but can he cope with the pressure of Real Madrid because it is going to be so many more times than at Tottenham.

“Quality on the pitch: he’s got it. The pressure to represent Real Madrid is massive. Hopefully they sign him and the price is cheaper.”

Alli made the switch to north London in the 2015 winter window for just £5million.

He has so far proven to be a great investment, starring in 81 matches for the Premier League club and bringing a return of 23 goals in 17 appearances.

He is currently being heavily criticised for his red card against Gent and his temperament is considered on his weaknesses, but there is no doubting his ability on the ball.

With the player still contracted with the club until 2022 Spurs fans will be hoping to see many more years from their star man.

In other Tottenham news, fans have torn into Mauricio Pochettino after this decision against Gent.
