Sam Allardyce has a message for Tottenham fans ahead of Crystal Palace showdown

By Amir Mir

Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce has warned Tottenham fans that his team will not be beaten even if they are two goals down ahead of their clash on Wednesday night.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side will travel to Selhurst Park on the back of their FA Cup semi-final defeat against Chelsea on Saturday.

By contrast, Allardyce’s team, who have now moved clear of danger, go into the game having beaten Liverpool at Anfield.

On top of that, they have picked up wins against the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea in recent weeks as they will be targeting Spurs next.

This was Allardyce’s message to his opponents ahead of their all-London showdown in midweek, which could also play a part in the Premier League title race.

“It’s our spirit, our mental resilience and our belief now that means even when we go a goal or two goals down we don’t think we’re going to get beaten,” said Allardyce, as quoted by the Evening Standard.

“Because of that mental resilience we are fighting back now and getting results and the more results we get the more confidence we build and the results we’ve had recently nobody would have expected.”

Tottenham are four points behind Chelsea in the Premier League table, with their rivals playing Southampton on Tuesday night.

After their disappointment in the FA Cup, Pochettino will be hoping his players can step up to what will be a tough test away from home.

They will have the PFA Young Player of the Year in Dele Alli amongst their ranks, with the attacking midfielder scoring 16 league goals this term.

Along with Alli, striker Harry Kane will be looking to add to his 20 league goals from 24 games this term as he will be looking to take inspiration from his winner against Palace in August.

In other Tottenham news, Harry Kane has sent a message to Dele Alli after he beats him to PFA award.
