Sam Byram mocks Leeds teammate Joe Rodon in new message

Leeds defender Sam Byram has taken to social media to poke some fun at teammate Joe Rodon after their 2-0 Championship win over Derby on Saturday (December 7).

Rodon, 27, had the opportunity to open the scoring from an early corner but was unable to direct his diving header goalwards.

The centre-back made amends not long after, however, scoring his first goal for the club in his 70 appearances across all competitions with a remarkably similar header from Joe Rothwell’s corner.

Austrian defender Max Wober was in the right place at the right time to score Leeds’ second with a close-range effort, securing all three points for the home side.

Leeds’ victory over Derby briefly took them to the top of the Championship table, but promotion rivals Sheffield United reclaimed the spot after a 2-2 draw with West Brom.

Rodon has been key to Daniel Farke’s plans since making the permanent move to Elland Road in the summer transfer window, starting 19 of his 20 appearances across all competitions, yielding a total of 1796 minutes of action.

Byram, 31, has largely been deployed as a make-shift left-back this season, starting just six of his 15 appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal, and providing one assist in 521 minutes of action.

Rodon took to Instagram after the win to commemorate his first Leeds goal, to which Byram, among others, responded by saying: “Love it 50p head.” in reference to his first chance.

Leeds have the opportunity to return to the top of the table as they face Michael Carrick’s impressive Middlesbrough side on Tuesday (December 10).

Not long after, Farke’s side will travel across the Pennines to face Preston on Saturday (December 14) with the festive period in full swing.
