Sam Lammers ‘career at Ibrox is done’ after Rangers source’s reveal – Hutton
Sam Lammers’ career at Rangers “could be done” after his new admission about his loan spell at FC Utrecht.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton praised the striker’s good form during his loan spell at the Dutch side after his “tough” time at Ibrox.
Lammers revealed after Utrecht’s 1-0 win against NEC Nijmegen on Sunday (17 March) that he has found scoring “addictive” and that he is enjoying his time out on loan.
The 26-year-old’s winner against NEC Nijmegen brought his goal tally up to three across 10 appearances as well as three assists.
Sam Lammers “could be done” at Rangers
Sources have told Football Insider (19 March) that the Gers are set to sell Lammers but are unlikely to recoup anywhere the £3.5million they spent on him last summer.
Hutton admitted that he understood Lammers’ post-match comments and suggested that Utrecht could look to make his loan move permanent.
“His career could be done at Ibrox,” he told Football Insider.
“Obviously, if he goes away and continues to do really well, he could come back and show that form for Rangers.
“But he’s out on loan, in the shop window, doing really well – Utrecht might fancy taking him on a permanent.
“As a footballer, I understand his comments.
“In that moment in time, you’re playing for that team, so you’re only going to back them.
“You’re not going to talk about your parent club, so I understand it.

“It’s good to see him doing well.
“It was tough for him at Rangers, so to see him go and play with that kind of freedom and scoring – it’s all you can ask for.”
