Sasa Kalajdzic responds to Rangers message as Wolves departure confirmed

Wolves striker Sasa Kalajdzic has responded to the news of a Molineux departure ahead of next season.

The Austria international joined the Premier League club from German Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart in the summer of 2022.

However, his Wolves career has been heavily affected by an ACL injury, causing Kalajdzic to miss the entirety of last season.

The 28-year-old has made just 14 appearances for the Molineux side, and scored three goals in the 2023/24 season.

Kalajdzic responds to Nasser Djiga’s message as defender joins Rangers

While the striker continues to work towards his long-awaited return, Wolves defender Nasser Djiga has joined Rangers on loan.

Djiga made six appearances for Vitor Pereira’s men after signing from Serbian side Crvena Zvezda in the winter transfer window.

The 22-year-old will hope for more game time at Ibrox, while Rangers are vying to win their first Scottish Premiership title since 2021.

Djiga took to Instagram to celebrate his move to the Bears on Wednesday, 9 July, as he posted: “Very happy to be joining Rangers FC.

“See you soon at Ibrox Stadium. Al hamdulillah.”

Kalajdzic commented: “Let’s go Digic.”

Wolves need Kalajdzic to perform next season

Football Insider verdict

Wolves established a strong vein of form under Pereira last season, as the 56-year-old steered his side clear of the relegation zone by leading the West Midlands side to five consecutive Premier League wins in April.

However, the Molineux outfit struggled for large parts of the campaign and were heavily reliant on Matheus Cunha, who notched 15 goals and six assists in 33 top-flight appearances last season.

But Cunha has joined Manchester United, meaning that Pereira is now in need of a new talisman next season, as Wolves look to make further progress in the Premier League.

One likely candidate to take the goalscoring mantle from the Brazil international is Jorgen Strand Larsen, who scored 14 top-flight goals last term.

But last season, Wolves required a combination of Larsen and Cunha’s attacking efforts to steer clear of relegation trouble.

Now that Cunha has departed, Pereira needs Kalajdzic to stay fit and find form in front of goal.
