Celtic fans have reacted with hilarity to the matchday programme for the upcoming Europa League clash against Zenit using the Russian club’s badge from when they beat Rangers in the 2008 UEFA Cup Final in Manchester.

Zenit at first weren’t pleased about this and wanted the badge changed to their current one, but Celtic’s official Twitter account explained the incident.

“We love the current badge, guys, but we thought it would only be right to pay tribute to your greatest European triumph. Retro” and of course, wind up Rangers fans.

Unsurprisingly, many Hoops fans thought the trolling of their bitter rivals was hilarious.

Here are some of the best reactions to the badge change from Twitter:

The Hoops go into the match against Zenit, hoping to make the last sixteen of the competition for the first time since the Bhoys reached the final of the old UEFA Cup in 2003.

The match won’t be easy though, as not only are Roberto Mancini’s side full of multi-million signings, but the Bhoys are set to be without such key players as Leigh Griffiths, Dedryck Boyata and Patrick Roberts, all of whom are missing the game due to injury.

It will be a big night for Moussa Dembele in particular, who has had a poor season so far by his high standards but has excelled in Europe in his time at the club.
