Savinho’s impending new Man City deal hints at possible Champions League start
Savinho looked to have one foot out the door at Man City but rumblings of a new contract could be a sign of his worth to Pep Guardiola.
Savinho was chased by Tottenham all throughout the summer with Thomas Frank eager to strengthen his wide positions.
Yet, the Lilywhites fell short with sources telling Football Insider that Man City want in excess of £65million for Savinho to be persuaded to part with him.
It looked certain that Savinho was going to leave Man City in January after being pushed down the pecking order at the Etihad.
However, reports of a new contract in the works suggests the Cityzens and the Brazilian are on track to grow a fruitful working relationship together.

Savinho set to sign long-term contract to rebuke any near-future Tottenham interest
According to BBC Sport (26 September), City are in talks with agreeing a new long-term deal with the 21-year-old.
This comes after fellow youngster Nico O’Reilly also signed a new agreement which will keep him at the Etihad until 2030.
One can infer that Savinho will likely have a deal signed in the same ballpark given he is one-year older than the talented Englishman and a part of the club’s long-term future.

Naturally, the finalisation of the extended contract will be a huge blow for Frank as Tottenham thought Savinho could join in January after being seemingly pushed out by Guardiola, Football Insider exclusively revealed.
Although the contract negotiations are a sign of good faith, the next step to securing the winger’s loyalty to the club is by deploying him in the Champions League on 1 October.
Pep Guardiola must start Savinho against Monaco as gesture of good faith from Man City
In their second European tie of the season, the blue half of Manchester take on Monaco as they bid to maintain their perfect record in the competition this campaign.
Despite Rayan Cherki returning to Man City training, the match will surely come too soon which will see the Brazilian in with a shot of featuring from the get-go.
A further injury to Omar Marmoush sees only Savinho, Jeremy Doku and Oscar Bobb in contention to occupy the winger spots.

During a crucial moment of contract negotiations, the ex-Girona starlet is likely holding off from advancing talks until he sees the Spanish manager show his faith in him by giving him a start in Europe’s supreme competition.
The number 26 has started the last two matches against Huddersfield and Burnley and looks to be on his way to finding his top form after a niggling injury at the start of the 2025-26 campaign.
These are treacherous times for Guardiola who cannot afford to disappoint his wondrous speedster or the club may risk pushing him out the door in January.
