Savinho, Nkunku react to ‘last’ message from Andrey Santos amid Bayern Munich links

Man City star Savinho and Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku reacted to a message from Andrey Santos as Bayern Munich eye a move for the young star.

Chelsea’s 2-0 loss to Newcastle on Sunday (11 May) means the Blues will need to win both of their final two games this season to guarantee Champions League qualification.

They will have to do so without their starting striker, after Nicolas Jackson was sent off for elbowing Sven Botman.

Whilst much of Chelsea‘s poor performance can be attributed to their lack of firepower up front, central midfield has become a contentious position, with Moises Caicedo being used as a makeshift right-back for much of this season, while Romeo Lavia has missed a lot of time with injury.

However, as the Blues suffered their ninth league defeat of the season, one of their young loan stars was being recognised as one of Ligue 1’s standout players this season.

Andrey Santos nominated for Young Player of the Year award

Following some unbelievable performances whilst on loan at Strasbourg, Santos was nominated for Ligue 1’s Young Player of the Year awards at the prestigious UNFP Trophies ceremony.

The Brazilian missed out to PSG’s Desire Doue for the award, but his nomination saw him recognised as one of the top five young stars in France’s top division.

Santos shared two images from the night on Instagram, captioned: “about last night”.

The post was liked by Man City ace Savinho, a one-time member of Strasbourg’s squad, and an international teammate of the Chelsea midfielder.

Nkunku also liked the post, showing his support for the talented young midfield maestro, although they might not get a chance to feature together at Stamford Bridge if the underperforming forward leaves this summer himself.

Bayern Munich eyeing move for Andrey Santos with Chelsea stacked in midfield

Football Insider Verdict

Santos’ has taken his time to acclimate to European football, but the Brazil international is now looking like one of the continents very best.

However, upon his return to West London, the former Vasco da Gama starlet will be met with the challenge of forcing his way into a midfield that is stacked with talent.

Chelsea will undoubtedly look to move Caicedo back into the midfield next season, whilst Enzo Fernandez and Lavia are two incredibly talented and sought-after players.

As a consequence, the 21-year-old may look to move on this summer, rather than risk stunting his development by missing out on regular first team football.

Bayern Munich are keeping tabs on Santos, and there may be a gap that needs filling in the Bavarian’s midfield this season.

Mick Brown revealed exclusively to Football Insider that Fulham have held talks about bringing Joao Palhinha back to Craven Cottage next season.
